Callie and the Skunk

ca and skunk

No I ain’t gonna chase it away

Far too psycho to write today, but here’s the cat looking at a skunk eating all the birdseed. Enjoy!

John Hamilton Farr lives in Taos, New Mexico, U.S.A. with his classical pianist wife. “Possibly the only place I can get away with this,” he says. As New York Times best-selling author James C. Moore (Bush’s Brain) put it in a review of John’s first book, Buffalo Lights is the work of a man attuned to the world who sees it differently than you and I and writes about it with a language and a vision of life that is impossible to ignore.” John is the author of BUFFALO LIGHTS, TAOS SOUL, ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE, and THE HELEN CHRONICLES. He has been publishing online since 1996 (Zoo Zone, Farr Site, MacFaust, GRACK!, FarrFeed) and blogs regularly here at JHFARR.COM. Dude. This is why God created .22 rifles. Do your duty.

I have a single-shot .22 rifle, a semi-automatic .22 carbine, a 20-gauge shotgun, & two antique 12-gauge shotguns. The last time I used the .22 rifle in the manner you describe was over 20 years ago when I executed a feral cat with an oozing green brain protruding from a large hole in its skull. Before that, a very sick rabbit. But I’d never kill a healthy wild animal, especially not a large skunk 15 feet from my front door.

Correction: I think I did use the .22 to put something out of its misery in the back “yard” here a few years ago, but I can’t remember what it was!

Callie says, “Go ahead skunk, eat that silly bird seed, while I have a full tummy of nice yummy cat food and get to relax laying in this nice window taking in the sun’s rays.”
