Albuquerque Balloon Festival (Video)

Back soon! I’ve been busy designing a book for someone else, believe it or not. In the meantime, have a gander at a timelapse video of a remarkable event that takes place every year just down the road. I’ve never seen so many balloons at once as in this video. Read the videographer’s own description here. Great job!

I remember vividly the morning mass ascent in 1978 (the only one I’ve had a chance to see.) It was a still, clear morning, and as the sun rose in the east, a full moon was setting in the west. Quite the sight. Unfortunately, I was “cash challenged” at the time, and couldn’t afford to buy film for my camera (pre-digital days, sometimes referred to as the Precambrian.)

I remember those days. The worst thing I could do was waste the film. Damn stuff was expensive! I hated winding the roll as much as I was supposed to at first and cheated, so my first couple shots were usually screwed up.
